Who killed Derek?

             When Annie told Sutton that “The Snake” crawled out of the water Emma and Sutton decided to try and figure out who the snake is. Annie wasn’t really able to give them a good description of who “The Snake” was when they went to visit her in the hospital.

        

           After we saw the car accident I always had suspensions about Derek. Everyone was at the Sutton’s party but Derek. Back at school when Emma went to confront him about breaking up with Char at first he acted really weird. When she first went up to him he started getting nervous, “I am sorry, I didn’t mean to.” But once he realized they weren’t talking about the same thing he said “Oh, are you talking about Char?”

         Ethan and Sutton saw that Derek had a tattoo of a snake on his wrist. They went to confront him at his work. He admitted that he was the one in the car. “It wasn’t suppose to end like that. I was suppose to just take you to a parking lot but you freaked out and went into the water.” Derek then picked up a tire iron and hit Ethan. Ethan then punched Derek really hard making him fall on the ground. As Derek was getting up, a car was pulling in. Ethan and Sutton ran out not seeing who it was. The next day Derek was found dead. Ethan was pulled over that night and a police officer saw Ethan’s hand and with his reputation he is being accused. Dan, Ethan’s brother told him to leave town and he will try and figure out who did it.

           I think that Alec had something to do with Derek’s Death. Alec cancelled his date with Rebecca and came home late. He said that he was going to go find his daughter who was supposed to be at the library but was not. He didn’t find her and just came home. If he were supposedly as worried as he said he was he would have called the police and kept searching till he found her. Why would anyone want to kill Derek other then Sutton? Derek was getting up when they were leaving. The places Ethan punched Derek on his face are very unlikely to cause him to die. Alec on the other hand has motive to kill Derek! Derek started telling Sutton and Ethan information. Alec could have killed him because he didn’t want them to find out anything else and reveal his secret.

          During Derek’s funeral Emma and Alec started talking about Derek and how it is a tragedy that he died. “You did a lot for Derek didn’t you? And he did a lot for you?” Emma said.  Alec became very defensive asking her what she was talking about that she should be careful who she accuses. He then starts saying that he finds it awful weird that she cant remember to much of that night, but the problem is, is that Sutton was there and she wasn’t. He tells her that he doesn’t think that Ethan did it and that he should come back. 

         If Alec says he doesn’t think that Ethan did it then why is he accusing Ethan? I think he is just saying that because he wants Ethan to come back so they don’t investigate to much into it and find he had a part in it. Also if Alec didn’t kill Derek then why was he so defensive when Emma asked him a simple question? He also turned it around on Emma/Sutton not allowing her to ask to many
questions. Alec is right that it was a tragedy that Derek died because he died for no reason! Alec is being selfish letting people getting hurt or killed just for this secret. Wouldn’t it be better to just let the secret out instead of always worried about it and hurting people?

Characters

Emma Becker- Emma is Sutton’s twin. She lived in Las Vegas, Nevada with a foster mom and her foster brother. But she does not get along with them at all! Emma has lived in 12 foster homes over her entire life. Emma is really sweet and down to earth. She would do anything to just live a normal life. When Emma finds out that she has a twin sister she runs away from home to go and meet her. Ethan and Thayer are the only ones that know about her and the switch. Emma is my favorite character because she really cares about others and is sweet. Sutton is always seeming to hurt Emma but because Sutton is the only family she has she forgives her every time. I always feel bad for Emma when Sutton hurts her because she really just wants a sister and doesn't deserve what Sutton does. I do hope that Sutton will realize that Emma has always been there for her and she needs to stop treating Emma badly. 

Sutton Mercer- Sutton is Emma’s twin. She lives in Phoenix with her adopted parents (Ted and Kristin) and her sister.  She gets whatever she wants and more. Sutton doesn’t get along with her family. She is really mean, lies and manipulates to get her way. Sutton has a boyfriend, a secret boyfriend and uses her best friends brother Thayer. When Sutton finds her twin sister she decides to switch places with her so she can go find their mother. She was almost killed in a car accident, when her car was driven into the water. She was saved by Annie Hobbs who she believes to be her mother but finds out that she is not. Sutton is Jealous of her twin sister Emma because her family and friends like Emma better. Even though they dont know that they switched they all believe they like the knew Sutton. This angers Sutton, so she tries and makes Emma seem like the bad one.

Ted Mercer- Ted is married to Kristin and  is Sutton’s adopted father and Laurel’s real dad.  He is best friends with Alec Rybak and is a doctor at a hospital. Ted is a very honest and respected man. He loves his family more then anything but is hiding something from them. Ted and Alec have a big secret that no one but each other knows. He and Alec are always acting very secretive. I think it has something to do with Sutton and Emma and their adoption. I think that Ted might be Emma and Suttons real father. Ted killed Justin’s mom by accident in surgery but wont forgive himself. Once he finds out that his daughters boyfriend is the women he accidentally killed, some secrets start to come out, which starts to scare him and Alec.

Alec Rybak- Alec is Thayer and Mads father and Sutton’s godfather. He has been best friends with Ted Mercer since they were in school. He is an attorney but uses his job to keep his secret a secret. This secret and job has been put before his children, making their relationship not very good. Alec has helped many people get out of jail but they have a price to pay for it. I think the price is to help keep Alec’s secret a secret. Making them do jobs for him so he can't get in trouble for it. Alec's secret is affecting so maybe peoples life in all kinds of different ways. 

Thayer Rybak-Thayer is the son of Alec and brother to Mads. He has always liked Sutton but she doesn't feel the same way. She often uses Thayer, which ends up hurting him and ruining their friendship. Thayer helped Sutton when she went to California looking for her mom. Thayer was living in California because he does not get along with his father. Thayer gets tired of Sutton always using him! I think that in the end Sutton is going to lose a lot of her friends if she keeps using people. Thayer is a good guy and would do anything for Sutton but I don't think he is always going to be there for her. 

Ethan Whitehorse- Ethan was Sutton’s secret boyfriend. He has a bad reputation and doesn’t have any friends. He lives with his brother in a trailer. When Emma got to Phoenix he figures out that she is not really Sutton. He is the only person that knows that they switched places. Ethan decides not to tell anyone about the Emma’s secret and decides to teach her who her sister really is. After a little while Emma and Ethan start liking each other, which makes Sutton really mad. Ethan has had a rough life but really cares about Emma. I feel bad for people like Ethan because he is a good guy but people automatically judge him. People just assume things about Ethan but they don't know the real person. Ethan right now is being accused of the murder of Derek Rogers. I hope that they will find the real killer and that Ethan doesn't have to go to jail for something he did not do.  I do hope that he won't let Sutton get to him and won't believe the lies he tells her.  

Derek Rogers- Derek is on probation and has been sent to jail many times. Alec decided to help him by getting him out of jail but he has to pay a price for it. He had to date Char so he could find out things from the girls. Alec had suspensions that Sutton wasn’t really Sutton. Derek was really good to Char and I think he could be a good person but he always is seeming to get himself into trouble. Derek ends up dying because I think he was telling Sutton to much information. Even though Derek is not the best person in the world he does not deserve to die. Derek probably died because of Alec and Ted's secret. Derek is just another innocent victim in this secret.

Justin Miller- Justin is Laurel Mercer's boyfriend. Justin just moved here because he wanted to go to the school here to play golf. We ended up finding out in this and last season that Justin is in foster care because both his parents died. Justin's mom died because Mr. Mercer let someone finish up a surgery which ended up killing her. I think that all Mr. Mercer owes Justin is an apology and to make sure he is okay. Mr. Mercer got a phone call during the surgery. I think that the phone call was again something to do with the secret that Ted and Alec have. Justin mom should not have died and it is not fair that Justin had to lose his mom when Mr. Mercer could just have taken his time and finished the surgery before he had to take the phone call.

Ann Rebecca Sewell- Ms. Sewell now goes by Rebecca, now that she is back. She moved away to California and decided to come back and put the past behind her. Her and Alec are now starting to date. Alec thinks that if he dates her he can keep an eye on her. I think she knows the secret that Ted and Alec knows and I think she could possible be the mother of Sutton and Emma but did not want to keep them or was forced to give them up. I also think that she is pretending that she is going to be good and not give away Ted and Alec’s secret but I think she has a plan to let the secret out. I also think her sister (Char’s mom) Phyllis knows the secret too and that is the reason why she is drinking so much. I think this secret has effected Rebecca more then we know. Since we don't know what she knows or why she left we don't know yet how much this has affected her but I think we will be finding out soon. 

Annie Hobbs- Annie was believed to be Sutton and Emma’s mom but in the second season we find out that she is not the mother. Annie’s daughter died and she over heard someone giving up twins so she tried to get both but she could only get Emma. She said that she didn’t see who their mom was, she only overheard her. I think she is lying, that she actually did because Alec is keeping her in a psych ward and after she told the girls that, Rebecca comes in and says “Oh Annie, what have you done now?” I think that Annie also knows the secret but is being forced to keep her mouth shut. In season one there was pictures of Annie, Alec and Ted in an old photo album of Teds. Therefore I think Annie was part and does know about the secret but is being forced or is scared to tell the girls. I don't think we will be seeing much more of Annie for a while until more comes out. I hope that Annie is not being locked up in a psych ward just because of this secret, that it is actually because the death of her daughter because no one deserves to be locked up for no reason.

First Season

Sutton and Emma are twins who were separated at   birth. They had never met before until they found each other online. Sutton and Emma live completely different lives though. Emma lives the life everyone has always wanted! Her dad is a doctor and she can get whatever she wants. Emma lives with a foster parent and a mean “brother”. They also have very different personalities. Sutton is a manipulator, liar and will do whatever it takes to get what she wants. Emma is sweet and caring and just wants to live a      normal life. 

Emma switches places with her twin sister so that Sutton can go find out whom their real mom is. Emma has to try and figure out who Sutton is while she is pretending to be her. Sutton thinks she found her mom but once she finally meets the women she finds out it is not her real mom. The woman was paid to put her name on the girl’s birth certificates. Which leads her to a family who wanted to adopt Emma. Emma, back at home finds out that Sutton didn’t get a long with her family and she had a secret boyfriend. Emma though has always wanted to have a family so she changes Sutton's relationship with her family. Ethan, Sutton's secret boyfriend falls for Emma and is tired of being kept a secret. Ethan is the only one who knows that she is Emma not Sutton. 

Sutton now found that her real mom is Annie Hobbs. Her mom was placed in a psych ward. When Sutton gets there Annie tells her that her daughter died and that he wouldn’t lie to her. Sutton begins to wonder who told her this and why. But no one is allowed to talk to Annie, so Sutton is forced to leave. Not letting her have time to tell her that Emma is alive. In the mean time Emma starts to get suspensions about Alec, Sutton's godfather, and Ted, Sutton's dad. While Sutton is now mad at Emma for “stealing” her secret boyfriend. But Emma hasn’t heard from Sutton in a long time and is starting to get worried. 

I think that Sutton's Dad or Alec her god father might be the girls real father. Other wise I don't understand what they are hiding. I also wonder what they are hiding or why they told Annie that Emma was dead? I hope that Sutton and/or Emma will be able to talk to Annie to be able to figure out why she  put them up for adoption, who their father is and who told her that Emma was dead? 

Eduardo

In the first Season Eduardo was Mads, Sutton's best friend , dance partner. They started dating which made her father, Alec mad and told Mads that she is not allowed to see him anymore. Eduardo was forced to leave town and was purposely hit by a car because he knows something about Sutton and Emma and Alec didn't want him to tell the girls. Right when he was going to tell Emma he stopped breathing and Emma was forced out of the room. I think that Eduardo knows the secret that Alec and Ted are hiding. Alec got really mad when Eduardo was hanging out with Mads and Eduardo kept wanting to tell Emma and Mads more but every time he was going to he was cut off.

Laurel and Justin

Then comes along Justin who starts dating Laurel, Sutton's sister. He right away makes Laurel fall in love with him. Ted and Justin act very strange around each other. Justin also is very mysterious. Laurel wants to know more about Justin, so she goes to his house to find that he is actually homeless. He is living in an abandoned home because he is in Foster Care. He tells Laurel that he really wants to play golf and his old school does not have a good team. Ted offers to have him live in a room at the club the are members to. Laurel goes to his new room and sees a box. She went to look at it but Justin quickly closes it. Later when she leaves you see Justin open the box and inside is a picture of the Mercer family.  

The Cast

I think that they want you to think that Justin knows the secret that Ted and Alec are hiding but I don't think he has anything to do with it. Justin and Ted act very weird around each other, they don't act very secretive like Ted and Alec do. In the show they are each learning about how lies affect each other. Justin lying to Laurel is affect their relationship. She can feel that he was/ is keeping secrets from her. The lie that Ted and Alec know is affecting their lives by making them always having to come up with a new lie. It also is affecting Ted and Kristen's marriage because as Sutton and Emma are finding things out Kristen is also being affected by it. Since Annie went and got Emma from her adopted family but then was lied to and lost her, made Emma have to be put into foster care. Char, Sutton's best friend, mom i think is being affected by the lies too because she is drinking a lot. Her drinking is also making it tough on Char because it is making her raise her mom and not allowing Char to be a daughter. This one big lie that Ted and Alec are hiding is affecting each character in the show in many different way.
